Figure 9. FY 2003 Resources Used to Finance Activities (Text description)

Figure 9 is a bi-directional bar graph depicting four types of financial resources used to support Agency activities during FY 2003. The baseline of the graph is a measure of millions of dollars, and is calibrated in $100 million increments from -$400 (on the left) to $400 (on the right), with 0 at its midpoint.

Bar indicators marked Obligations Incurred ($330 million) and Other Resources ($1 million) extend from the zero mark to the right, indicating a total of $331 million in dedicated resources was needed in FY 2003 to support AHRQ activities. Bars marked Offsetting Collections (-$330 million) and Total Resources Used to Finance Activities (-$2 million) extend from the zero mark to the left, indicating $332 million in funds was secured to finance the aforementioned AHRQ activities. AHRQ's offsetting collections consist principally of PHS evaluation funds.
