Logo - Logo - 11th CAHPS & 1st SOPS User Group MeetingOn December 3-5, 2008, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) hosted a national meeting for users of the CAHPS family of surveys as well as the newer Surveys on Patient Safety Culture (SOPS) in Scottsdale, Arizona. This was the first of a series of joint user group meetings for these two programs.

The 327 participants included representatives of health plans; hospitals; large medical groups; Federal agencies; Medicaid, SCHIP, and other State programs; survey vendors; employer coalitions and other health care purchasers; researchers; and consumer advocates.

Conference Highlights

A preconference "CAHPS College" included sessions for new and experienced users of CAHPS products. Sessions for new users covered the fundamentals of CAHPS surveys. Experienced users attended sessions that addressed advanced uses of CAHPS data.

A track focused on the CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey reviewed adaptations of the CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey, including a visit-specific instrument and other questionnaires in development, and offered perspectives from users of the survey.

A track focused on the CAHPS Hospital Survey (H-CAHPS) included updates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as well as examples of how hospitals are using their results.
