Figure 5: Sample Smallpox Vaccination Center Floor Plan (Text Description)

Figure 5 shows how a smallpox vaccination center could fit into a typical high school basketball court (84 ft x 50 ft). Center left on the floor plan is the "Entrance" and the "Greeting" area. Beyond this is the "Forms Distribution" station.

To the right of these areas is a large "Briefing/Consent (Seats or Lines)" area. Beyond that area are 2 "Triage/Forms" stations. In the corner to the right of the "Triage/Forms" stations is a small area indicated as "Crisis Counseling." To the left of the "Triage/Forms" stations is a small station indicated "Verify Contraindications." Behind the triage stations, to the right on the floor plan, are 4 stations, each indicating "Clean," "Vax," and "Bandage." Two "Prep" stations are interspersed between those four stations. Beyond the stations are 2 small stations indicating "Form Collection, Exit Counseling" and "Form Collection and Counseling." The exit from this area is indicated at the far right of the floor plan. In the lower right corner of the floor plan, a small area is designated "Command."

To the left of the "Greeting" area on entry to the vaccination center is a physically distinct "Presumed Contact" area with three exits. At the upper right corner of the floor plan is a "Transport" station and an exit to "Medical Facility." To the right of that exit on the floor plan is a double row totaling eight small "Medical Evaluation and Forms" stations, then a larger "Briefing/Consent (Seats or Lines)" area. In a large area further to the right on the floor plan are several stations, the first being a small triage area. Along the wall at the top of the floor plan is an "Isolation Counseling" station and an exit to "Isolation." In the middle of the floor is a station indicating "Clean," "Vax," and "Bandage." Below that on the floor plan is a "Prep" station. Against the back wall, on the far right of the floor plan is a "Sick Exit."
